The Virginia Horseshoers Association (VHA), a chapter of the American Farrier's Association (AFA), is an organization dedicated and committed to organizing farriers and other interested parties for the promotion of interest in the art and science of the farrier.

PURPOSE
The purpose of the Virginia Horseshoers Association is to:

bulletassist those who want to enter the farrier trade
bulletassist a farrier to further his/her skills
bulletfacilitate learning, ongoing education and promote the farrier industry
bulletinform members of new techniques, ideas, processes, products and procedures
bulletenhance communication and learning between farriers, veterinarians and those within the horse industry
bulletcultivate friendship, fellowship and understanding among members
bulletdefine, maintain, and improve the quality of workmanship and enforce professional ethics within the association
bulletinform the public and the horse owning population of the farriers' quality, ethics and professionalism
bulletestablish a medium for the resolution of problems related to the practice of farriery for the concern, interest, and betterment of the entire horse industry

VHA members organize and participate in clinics, conventions and educational seminars, which provide a medium for horsepersons, veterinarians, farriers, and related parties to exchange their views, ideas and suggestions.

Farrier certification and licensing is not a requirement of the VHA. We encourage certification within the guidelines set by the AFA.

The VHA makes every effort to handle member concerns in a positive and accommodating manner.

We welcome you to attend our meetings and encourage you to join our membership. With your membership, you will receive information concerning VHA meetings, clinics, lectures and demonstrations; our quarterly newsletter, Hammer and Tongs, discounts on Mutual of Omaha insurance, the option to participate in the Virginia Horseshoers Association Accident/Illness program, and access to our video library and VHA merchandise.

The association does not regulate or interfere with a farrier's clientele, territory or price
